Singapore Night Festival 2016

The lawn opposite The Cathay in Dhoby Ghaut is no more. In its place now stands an intriguing portal to another world - a universe of mirrors, gears and cogs, curious culinary inventions and futuristic knick-knacks.

In fact, the entire Bras Basah-Bugis precinct has been transformed into a steampunk heaven. This is the theme that you can look forward to at this year's Singapore Night Festival, which impressed us with its consistency, high quality performances and yummy evening treats.

Here are six things you should check out when you go to the festival, to be held on 19-20 Aug and 26-27 Aug from 7.30pm.

The Wheel House (2)

2. The Wheel House by Acrojou (UK)

Where: Mainground, National Museum of Singapore
When: 19-20 Aug, 8pm, 9.25pm & 10.50pm

Only showing on the first weekend, “The Wheel House” has travelled the world for eight years before landing on our shores. This is a unique rolling acrobatic theatre that may seem raggedy at first, but don’t be fooled.

As you journey alongside this mobile stage, its artists will execute stunts that will turn the setting into other vividly imagined worlds, from a rickety cabin to a pirate ship.

Tip: For the best view, stand about 1.5m to the side of the Wheel, as it will roll towards that spot during the performance.
