Ever wanted to experience French culture beyond its popularised art and architecture? Here’s a good place to get started.

The Voilah! French Festival Singapore returns from April to May with a line-up of interactive spectacles for all, from the making of popular video game franchise, “Assassin’s Creed”, to gastronomic promotions across the island.

4. Pictures of Imagination – A Journey in Jules Verne’s World

When: 11 Apr-4 June
Where: Singapore East Garden Foyer, The Fullerton Hotel (“Travel & Heritage” exhibition, until 31 May) & Alliance Française La Galerie (“City & Ocean” exhibition, until 24 Jun)

In this exhibition, journey through the extraordinary world of Jules Verne, the French novelist who authored adventure classics such as “Journey to the Center of the Earth”, “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea” and “Around the World in Eighty Days”.

Verne’s life is depicted through the eyes of graphic novel artists from the influential Angoulême International Comics Festival. These mythical images that are remembered today have inspired numerous artists worldwide, and even sparked scientific innovations with just his stories.
