8. Poetic Strokes: Singapore’s Classical Chinese Poetry in Calligraphy
Find out how classical Chinese poetry can be reimagined through a local lens. Expressed through calligraphy at Poetic Strokes: Singapore’s Classical Chinese Poetry in Calligraphy.
Presented by the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre and the National University of Singapore, the exhibition invites 10 local calligraphers including Choo Thiam Siew and Yong Cheong Thye to introduce fresh takes on 22 poems. Through the artistic depictions of familiar landscapes from HDB flats and the Merlion, to our favourite tropical fruits and expressions of evolving sentiments and identities of local Chinese.
The exhibition will take place from now to 4 April 2021, 10 am to 8 pm daily at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre’s Creative Box on Level 6.
