Congratulations to the best 50!
The list of The World’s 50 Best Bars 2020, sponsored by Perrier, was announced in an online awards ceremony on 5th November at 3pm (UK time).
During extensive consultations with industry figures, Academy Chairs, bar owners, bartenders and partners, the 50 Best organisation received widespread support for releasing a ranking that aims to bind the community even closer together. This provides positive news for bars as they enter the next stage of recovery from the global pandemic.
Connaught Bar in London was crowned the world's best bar of 2020!
Its trick is it isn't trend-chasing and flash; under the stewardship of Ago Perrone, Giorgio Bargiani and Maura Milia, it evolves from one year to the next, always delivering with poise and studied purpose. The gleaming cubist interior frames the bar like a piece of fine art, the service is pitched perfectly – warm and judiciously attentive –and whatever your penchant, the cocktails , like the staff, are impeccably tailored. Like a benevolent omen, the trolley gently clinks and glides around the room delivering bespoke Dry Martinis – probably the best in London.
Some Singapore bars are also found on the list. We really can’t wait to visit them all after we are done with the pandemic.
NO 9: Jigger & Pony
Recently crowned the No.1 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars, named after the double-coned measuring device used by bartenders to accurately pour out spirits, Jigger & Pony. The recipes for which used to be listed in “jiggers” and “ponies”.
