The World's 50 Best Restaurants has just announced its 2019 list of awardees, and we're booking our plane tickets to savour the delicacies that await...

Start making your vacation plans and restaurant reservations, because the prestigious World's 50 Best Restaurants recently held its Awards Ceremony at Marina Bay Sands, unveiling the 2019 list of the top restaurants in the world amongst a gathering of the best chefs, restaurateurs, and food writers around the globe. For the very first time, the week-long celebration of gastronomy and the best of the international culinary scene was held in Asia - and in Singapore, known for our love for food and diverse culinary culture.

We were filled with pride when it was announced that Odette, the modern French restaurant helmed by Chef Julien Royer at the National Gallery and only local restaurant on the list, clinched No.18 this year, rising ten spots from its 2018 ranking.

If you're a gourmand or traveller seeking a new gastronomic experience, however, these are the 12 new entrants to the 2019 World's 50 Best Restaurants List, spanning the globe from Hong Kong and Bangkok, to Spain, Portugal, San Francisco, and Moscow!

9. Belcanto (No.42)

A well-known Lisbon establishment that was first a men’s club in 1958, chef José Avillez took over Belcanto in 2012. Under his culinary helm, the restaurant earned its first Michelin star that year; a second following suit just two years later.

Make your reservations early, because the intimate restaurant seats just 28 diners! The menu offers the best of Portugal’s coastal harvests, such as sea bass with seaweed and bivalves; and suckling pig with crisps, orange and salad.
