The World's 50 Best Restaurants has just announced its 2019 list of awardees, and we're booking our plane tickets to savour the delicacies that await...

Start making your vacation plans and restaurant reservations, because the prestigious World's 50 Best Restaurants recently held its Awards Ceremony at Marina Bay Sands, unveiling the 2019 list of the top restaurants in the world amongst a gathering of the best chefs, restaurateurs, and food writers around the globe. For the very first time, the week-long celebration of gastronomy and the best of the international culinary scene was held in Asia - and in Singapore, known for our love for food and diverse culinary culture.

We were filled with pride when it was announced that Odette, the modern French restaurant helmed by Chef Julien Royer at the National Gallery and only local restaurant on the list, clinched No.18 this year, rising ten spots from its 2018 ranking.

If you're a gourmand or traveller seeking a new gastronomic experience, however, these are the 12 new entrants to the 2019 World's 50 Best Restaurants List, spanning the globe from Hong Kong and Bangkok, to Spain, Portugal, San Francisco, and Moscow!

2. Twins Garden (No.19)

Located in central Moscow, with Russia’s largest wine cellar and an on-site laboratory; Twins Garden is owned by identical brothers Ivan and Sergey Berezutskiy, serving up modern Russian cuisine. The brothers own a farm just outside Moscow that supplies 70% of the ingredients used in the restaurant, with leftovers sent back to feed the animals, aiming for self-suffiency and low-wastage.

Choose from the two degustation options the vegetable-only Garden Menu, or the Twins Tasting, or go for the à la carte menu which offers salads of vegetables fresh from the farm that morning, or pumpkin soup with sea urchin caviar and quail’s egg. Pair your meal with house-produced vegetable wines: there’s tomato, carrot, parsnip and even leek wine, as well as a beetroot beer.

Plus, all proceeds from the chefs’ table go to the Twins Fund, which supports disabled children, provides shelter for animals and helps restore Orthodox churches – so in addition to having a gastronomic experience, you’ll be doing it for a good cause!
