The Louisiana-style seafood concept has introduced new sharing platters and hearty burgers

Louisiana-style seafood has long been a familiar sight in the local dining scene, drawing hungry diners with their messy but tasty buckets of fresh seafood — drenched in a variety of house-made sauces.
Cue the Instagram-worthy shot; where the likes of crab claws, corn, potatoes and mussels come tumbling onto a clean plastic sheet, all the better for easy clean-up afterward.

New menu additions
At Cajun On Wheels (C.O.W.), you’ll find all of that and more.
Since their inception late last year at Pasarbella Suntec City, the seafood chain has introduced two new sections to its menu, new sauces to complement its fresh seafood, as well as more side dishes.
Seafood lovers will be pleased to know that they’ve opened a new outlet at Plaza Singapura, expanding the food truck concept into a full-fledged dining experience.
Despite the recommended sharing suggestions, I’d go out on a limb to say that almost every item on their menu is good for group dining.
After all, the portions are huge, to say the least.

Buckets of joy
The Oh Crab bucket (from $59) comes with a hefty Sri Lankan live crab, baby potatoes, corn and strips of chicken spam; cooked in the Sambal Tumis sauce.
The thick and aromatic sauce, which comes with a curry-like consistency, is prepared with a secret sambal recipe, anchovies, onion and other spices.
Fresh and meaty, the naturally sweet crab was elevated by the rich sauce.
Another unanimous favourite of ours is the Mussels Stew ($21.90), which came in a tomato stew base. The sauce reminded us of the classic Italian marinara and left us craving for the addition of some carbs in the form of pasta.

Hits and misses
The burgers, a new addition to their menu, weren’t too shabby either. Go for the Crusty C.O.W. Burger ($39.90), a hunky beast where juicy premium beef patty is layered over chunky lobster flesh.
While most of the items left us satisfied, the Nice Platter ($39.90) proved to be contrary to its name. The grilled tiger prawns weren’t the freshest and the rather bland-tasting Hokkaido Scallops were swimming in butter.
That said, C.O.W. makes the case for convivial group dining in a fuss-free environment and is one of those places worth bookmarking for group gatherings and catch-ups.
