Marine Parade Food Centre Has Reopened: These Popular Stalls Are Back

Have your favourite stalls returned?

It’s been more than a year, but the wait is over! Marine Parade Central Market & Food Centre has finally reopened after a long (and further delayed) renovation.

The hawker centre at Block 84 Marine Parade Central has been serving customers for decades, winning the love of residents in the Marine Parade and East Coast regions. It is not new to temporary closures for major renovations, but the one that began in March 2018 to just early May this year has been the longest by far.

Now newly revamped, the hawker centre is more spacious, brighter and cleaner. The design also includes sloping landscapes so as to be more resistant to rainwater floods, which has plagued the place multiple times before. For those who are often lazy to return your trays at a hawker centre or food court, now you have a greater incentive to do so at Marine Parade Central. The hawker centre now asks you for an additional 50 cents for each tray, and you will only get your money back after you return your tray to the tray-return stations!

Many of the old stalls that return feature brand new signboards and even cutlery. The bigger question is, of course, which stalls have returned? Are the long-time classics and favourites back?

One of the most lauded char kway teow hawker stalls in Singapore, Apollo Fresh Cockle Fried Kway Teow has come back to us at Marine Parade Central! The fried kway teow still has its signature wet texture, but to a milder degree now.

Another popular stall that has reopened its shutters is Neptune Hong Kong Dim Sum. Get your fill of the juicy Cantonese dim sum, because we know you’ve missed it. There’s still a wide range of steamed and fried treats to choose from, including some locally-inspired durian flavours.

You can still indulge in the highly acclaimed mee rebus by Yok Mari Yok, an old name at the Marine Parade hawker centre.

Regulars would also be relieved to know that Kun Ji and their delicious duck rice are still there. Also back are the long queues at the stall, but we hear their food (apart from duck, the roasted pork is popular too) is still worth it.

If you love a good plate of nasi lemak, D’Authentic Nasi Lemak is sticking around to satisfy. Following a traditional recipe for around 20 years, their nasi lemak is freshly made from scratch – yes, fresh coconut milk is used to make the coconut rice!

Much of the space at the hawker centre is still empty and unoccupied, so we’re looking forward to see what new tenants may arrive. Pop by soon to see if the rest of your favourites are back, and show them some love!
