Bistro @ Gardenasia serves up noteworthy fusion cuisine in the rustic backyard of Kranji
By Brandon Era
I was privileged to go on a vacation without having to leave the country.
On my way to the Bistro @ Gardenasia, the scenery on the road seemed to somehow transport me out of Singapore for a brief moment.
In fact, I had the feeling that I was somewhere in Thailand or Malaysia.
Farm Fresh Salads
The design of Bistro @ Gardenasia was beautiful, with an overall rustic concept. The simplicity of the place added to the charm.
The food served at the bistro was not pricy and it featured many local delights, influenced by Western cuisine. The dishes were interesting, to say the least.
Their signature dishes had to be any of their salads, which include produce directly from the farms in Kranji. I had the pleasure of trying the Rocket Mandarin Orange Salad ($15), which consisted of fresh arugula, peeled mandarin orange slices and pine nuts served with a light dressing of honey balsamic vinaigrette.
The freshness of the ingredients spoke for itself and it was an absolute delight, not to mention it was served in a huge bowl that could easily feed a family of four. I kid you not!
Local Delights with a Twist
I got to sample a wide variety of their delectable fusion cuisine, which included Gardenasia Mee Goreng Pasta ($15) and Hokkien Pasta with Jumbo Prawns ($15).
Nonetheless, the highlight of the day had to be the Chargrilled Ribeye Hor Fun ($18).
A delightfully chargrilled ribeye steak adorned the hor fun, which had a rich and flavourful sauce that tantalised my taste buds.
If you’re feeling peckish, Bistro @ Gardenasia also has mains in sizeable portions, such as an Australian Ribeye Steak in Red Wine Gravy ($24), pan-seared Norwegian Salmon Fillet ($22) and pan-roasted Australian Lamb Racks ($24).
It was a different and filling culinary journey.
