Wine, cheese, pork and seafood - what’s there not to love?

But of course, we obliged ourselves to the fabulous gastronomic scene during our trip in Galacia, Spain. With this part of Spain located right next to Atlantic ocean, Galicia abounds with seafood treasures such as octopus, fish and other shellfish jewels. Poultry is another highlight from this northern part of Spain, pork and beef in particular, of which the livestock is all reared in the country. Since the source is right here at home, Galicia's cuisine, aside from being wholesome and diverse, is more affordable as compared to the big cities of Madrid and Barcelona. Here are five restaurants that best exemplify the very best of Galician dining.

5. A Barrola

As the trip draws to a close, the newness of a foreign delicacy started to lose its charm after having the likes of hake and steak for most parts of the journey. Naturally, our taste buds started yearning for culinary comforts of home, but A Barrola manages to reel us in explore a Galician treasure for the final time: Goose barnacles.  Another oceanic pride of the country, the crustaceans, sometimes mistaken for pig trotters, are found firmly attached on rocks in the sea that makes obtaining them dangerous, hence fetching a hefty price tag (we’re talking at least 50 euros a plate). Simply boiled in brine, the barnacles are eaten by pulling the diamond-shaped foot apart to reveal an inner tube of flesh. The claw tastes like a cockle.
