5 Restaurants In Galicia, Spain We Dined At And Left Very Much Impressed

Wine, cheese, pork and seafood - what’s there not to love?

But of course, we obliged ourselves to the fabulous gastronomic scene during our trip in Galacia, Spain. With this part of Spain located right next to Atlantic ocean, Galicia abounds with seafood treasures such as octopus, fish and other shellfish jewels. Poultry is another highlight from this northern part of Spain, pork and beef in particular, of which the livestock is all reared in the country. Since the source is right here at home, Galicia's cuisine, aside from being wholesome and diverse, is more affordable as compared to the big cities of Madrid and Barcelona. Here are five restaurants that best exemplify the very best of Galician dining.

2. O Fragón

It is at O Fragón where we politely made acquaintance with the Atlantic razor clams – a pleasantry only fleeting because in seconds, we inhale the shellfish without table manners. Comparable to a glass house, the beautiful restaurant is perched on an edge and offers distant ocean views through the wall-to-ceiling windows. It is indeed a truly fitting lunch spot after a visit to the famous Cape Finisterre, if we do say so ourselves. But back to the clams: The locals are obsessed over them. The chef mentioned there is even festivals dedicated to the razor clams, happening during the months of June, July and August when the shellfish are in abundance. Preparation is very simply: Steamed and served with either a wedge of lemon or, in O Fragón’s case, doused with copious amount of sweet Galician extra virgin oil.
