Modern European cuisine intrigues at Olivia Cassivelaun Fancourt (OCF)

Who is Olivia Cassivelaun Fancourt, you ask? We asked the very same question.
The newly-opened restaurant bearing her name brings that question to mind. Located above Timbre at the Arts House and behind the Sir Stamford Raffles’ statue, the restaurant is named after Raffles’ first wife.
Scandalous Origins
When Olivia first met Raffles, she was a mature mourning widow and he, a lowly young clerk. They got together amidst vicious rumours but she died before he received his knighthood and his new wife erased all records of her existence.
Now Olivia lives on in this new restaurant, Olivia Cassivelaun Fancourt (OCF), a new initiative by A Thousand Tales and the Timbre Group. Like the Timbre outlets, OCF also features live performances from local artistes.
Luxurious Lunch
Those who are working in the area, take note. This establishment is a great setting for business meetings, with a three-course set lunch at $38, and with three to four choices per course.
When we were there, we loved their starter of Smoked Herring, with summer crudités in Chateau Estoublon olive oil. The savoury morsel was a good beginning to the meal.
We also liked the Cargill Farm Striploin with salt-baked onions, pommes soufflé and garlic jus.
The meat was a little too well done for us, but it remained tender and juicy.
Sweets for the Sweet
If you like a nice dessert tart, you could go for the Greek Yoghurt Royale with pink guava and ginger genoise. Chocolate fiends would love the Intense Chocolate Tart with fleur de sel and sorbet. Both will get you excited.
