Arossa Wine & Grill re-launches with a new concept, good eats and a vast array of wines

By Cheryl Chia

Previously, there was a Japanese-Italian restaurant known as La Luna Rossa Osteria. Now, newly-revamped as Arossa Wine & Grill, it keeps the same style of cuisine, but has further increased its wine selection to over 120 New and Old World labels.

Chef Chiaki Watanabe – the same chef who helmed La Luna Rossa Osteria – takes over the kitchen at Arossa Wine & Grill. They thus serve fine Western food with Japanese touches and precision.

Refreshing Start

The starters at Arossa are kept light and palate-cleansing, such as the Buffalo Mozzarella Caprese with Sicilian Tomato and Basil Salad ($20), and the Tuna & Avocado Tartare with Wasabi & Herb Aioli ($26).

The restaurant also offers freshly-shucked oysters in champagne vinegar ($48 for six, $90 for 12).

Hot starters such as Fried Calamari with spicy garlic aioli ($18) and the Soup of The Day ($12) are also available. Each course can also be paired with wine, should it please you. Simply ask the manager on duty for assistance.

Mains to Share

We loved the Seafood Platter ($88 for two people) with two large King prawns, Hokkaido scallops and barramundi with Ravigote sauce. The beautiful platter had marks of the grill for that delicious smoky taste.

Meat lovers would enjoy the 100 per cent Grain Fed Australian Ribeye ($40) and the 100 per cent Corn-Fed Spanish Iberian Pork Loin ($35). There are no sides to the meat dishes, just a choice of sauce selections that ranges from red wine to gorgonzola, with just a pat of sea salt to allow the full taste of the meat to really shine through.

Arossa Wine & Grill also carries simple desserts such as Chocolate Fondant ($16) and Tiramisu ($14), for a sweet and rich end to the meal.
