Savour Spanish-style brunch items in this new menu
In the Bukit Timah enclave sits an old favourite of residents in the area, My Little Spanish Place. The restaurant has launched a weekend brunch menu with Spanish delights.
The new brunch is on from 9.30am to 3pm on weekends. Chef Maria Sevillano, the founding chef of My Little Spanish Place, has included an array of her favourite hometown dishes.
Spanish Breakfast
Typically, the Spanish eat a lot of potatoes, eggs and bread. So, be prepared for slightly heavier brunch items at My Little Spanish Place.
The Torrada de Jamon ($16) is tapas-like with jamon Serrano, Manchego, and fried farm egg on toasted country bread. Break the runny yolk over the toast for the full yummy effect.
I liked the Huevos Fritos con Chorizo Y Patatas ($18), a traditional Spanish dish with a fried egg, chorizo sausage and potatoes served with aioli – a Provençal sauce made of olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and egg yolks. If you like a heartier meal, this dish can be for one person but I’d advise you to share.
Mini Burgers & More
The slider-style Hamburguesa ($18), that comes with a beef patty, Mahon cheese and caramelised onions with a side of French fries, is great for those who’re hankering after a burger but who don’t have the stomach for a huge portion.
Also try the Bocadillo de Cerdo Desmenuzado ($16), a toasted baguette filled with Spanish braised pulled pork, sliced tomatoes and cucumber with a side of fries. The fries were slightly tepid the day I was there but, apart from that, the sandwich was filling and had a good bite.
If you wish, My Little Spanish Place has a range of premium hams such as 5J, Laudes, Joselito and Sierra Mayor, sold in 25g servings. Order it for a touch of lux to your brunch.
