Main dishes starts from $9.80 at Good Old Days

Do you remember dining at Sentosa in the 90s? Options were abysmal yet expensive.
Thankfully, with the expansion of the island also comes the development of an exciting food scene.
One of the newest additions to the Sentosa dining scene is Good Old Days, a two story colonial style building serving local food. The restaurant allows tourists an authentic take on Singaporean cuisine and also offers locals an affordable eat out option.
Located conveniently at Sentosa’s Beach Station, the restaurant provides beachgoers a brief respite from the sun and heat.
The casual ambience means that you can come in with boardshorts and sandy slippers without any fear of judgement.
Just as good, if not better than your favourite bowl of Chicken Rice.
Truly local flavours
On the menu are classic Singaporean dishes that many know and love. I was a little apprehensive as I didn’t believe that a restaurant in Sentosa could capture the true essence of local hawker food. Surprisingly, and thankfully, I was proved wrong.
The Singapore Chicken Rice ($11.80) was my favourite. The fragrant rice was served with succulent slices of chicken breast. Instead of smashing the chicken to get more volume, Good Old Days serves their chicken pieces in its natural plump and juicy. The chilli was also tangy with a spicy kick, much like my favourite chicken rice chilli sauce from a coffee shop near home.
Good Old Days prides themselves in preparing dishes that maintain the authentic taste of Singaporean cuisine. They stay true to our multicultural roots, serving Chinese, Malay and Indian dishes like Laksa, Ayam Penyet, and Chicken Briyani.

Their dedication to authenticity can be seen in the way they prepared the Beef Hor Fun ($11.80), making sure to use a well-seasoned wok to impart the important wok-hei taste. The higher price tag is also justified thanks to generous portions that can easily be shared among families and the use of premium ingredients like oyster blade beef (or flat iron steak).

Can’t decide? Have the buffet!
If you’re feeling especially ravenous after a fun-filled day in Sentosa, opt for the all-you-can-eat-buffet instead. At $20 nett, the buffet is such a steal since it includes a lot of the same dishes as the à la carte menu.
The live station includes dishes like Singapore Laksa, where a chef will make your Laksa à la minute. Other mains include their signature Chicken Rice, Five Spice Stir Fried Beef, Breaded Fish Fillet with Thai Chili Sauce and Vegetables & Chinese Mushrooms. The menu tends to change quite often but the Chicken Rice will be used as a constant draw.
Good Old Days is running an opening promotion where you can enjoy the buffet at $20 nett (adults) and $15 nett (child) from now till 30 June 2016. The buffet starts at 5pm at the first level of the restaurant offering a variety of scrumptious local dishes. With its value-for-money prices and generous portions for families and friends, Good Old Days is the perfect place for a brief respite before enjoying the rest of the abundant activities on Sentosa Island.
