You know you’re in for a meal unlike no other at the hands of the grand dame of Singapore cuisine, Violet Oon. Her Nyonya cooking has warmed the bellies of many Singaporeans for decades, so we’re not surprised that her Bukit Timah restaurant’s weekend brunch menu is heavily inspired by Peranakan flavours. Skip the sausages and ham – Violet’s Big Breakfast ($22) will surely wake you up with the familiar fragrant tang of otak otak, nasi kuning and sambal egg. For smaller bites, go for the French Toast With Banana And Gula Melaka Sauce ($15) or the old-fashioned Nyonya Kaya Toast ($7), elevated with fresh pandan infusion. Even your favourite roti prata gets a Violet Oon-makeover, topped with Crispy Spicy Tuna Wala Wala ($12) or the Nyonya classic Tau Yue Bak ($12), also known as slow-cooked and braised pulled pork.

The weekend brunch is served from 12pm till 230pm, alongside the restaurant’s regular lunch menu.
