We love our spicy foods. From chilli crabs to fiery stews and even Szechuan mala (literally translating to numbingly spicy) hot pots, we’re game to try them all.

Here are five restaurants that have made a name for themselves thanks to their signature fiery dishes.

Must-Try: Lover’s Grill Fish in Spicy Siwei Sauce

If you love your food spicy, you probably are already familiar with Szechuan food. But did you know? The Chinese say that there are over 40 types of spiciness, so it’s not just hot and hotter for this cuisine.

For a classic Szechuan dish, go for the Lover’s Grill Fish in Spicy Siwei Sauce ($48). Romantic name aside, this spicy-sour taste was very appetising and reminded us of assam fish.

Another must-try is the Beef Jerky in Sichuan Sauce ($12). Served with little forks, the delicious smoked flavour (minus the tough texture of regular jerky) had a tinge of sweetness to it.

Another surprise find was the Boneless Pork Knuckle or Beef Belly Slices in Sour Soup ($26/32). More sour than spicy, the tangy flavour left us wanting more.
