The highly anticipated Asia’s 50 Best Bars list for 2024 has been revealed Eleven Singapore bars made the cut, reaffirming their status as a regional cocktail powerhouse! But a newcomer has stolen the show!
Bar Leone in Hong Kong took the No.1 spot!
Bar Leone debuted at the top of the list, making history as the first new entry to be named the Best Bar in Asia. In addition, Bar Leone was awarded The Best Bar in Hong Kong and the Disaronno Highest New Entry Award.
This one-year-old neighbourhood bar in Central Hong Kong, founded by bartender Lorenzo Antinori, embodies the Italian ethos of ‘cocktail popolari’ or ‘cocktails for the people.’ With experience at Argo in Hong Kong and top bars in Seoul and London, Antinori brings his expertise to a beverage program focused on classic, approachable cocktails inspired by traditional Roman bars from his home country.
11 Singapore bars made the list
This year, Singapore still boasts a strong presence on the list, claiming a total of 11 entries, solidifying its reputation as a cocktail haven.
Jigger & Pony secures the No.3 spot and is named The Best Bar in Singapore for the fifth year. Nutmeg & Clove, founded by bar veteran and former Roku Industry Icon winner Colin Chia, climbs to No.6. Sago House comes in at No.15. At the same time, newcomer Night Hawk debuts at No.16. Offtrack, another new entry at No.25, provides a music-centric drinks experience with local DJs and lesser-known classic cocktails. Native jumps 11 spots to No.31, and Origin, another newcomer at No.32, features interiors inspired by an old-school train station with cocktails themed around the city’s five districts. Analogue Initiative is at No.35, followed by Employees Only at No.38. Newcomer Fura lands at No.42, and Atlas completes Singapore’s representation at No.49.
Two Singapore Bars Receive the Special Awards
Atlas (No.49) in Singapore, a gin bar inspired by the jazz age, has been honored with the Rémy Martin Legend of the List Award, acknowledging its consistent high performance since the list began in 2016. This year is a double triumph for Atlas, as it also receives the inaugural Bareksten Best Bar Design Award in Asia, celebrating its spectacular art deco style and its impressive 15-meter-tall gin tower that houses around 900 labels.
Singapore’s Fura (No.42) wins the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award for its innovative, low-carbon footprint cocktails, circular ethos, and commitment to low-waste practices. Fura’s dedication to sustainability is evident as it exclusively uses local ingredients in its drinks, showcasing its commitment to a sustainable beverage program.
