10 Supper Spots That You Didn’t Know Are Worth The Midnight Drive Out

Late night hunger pangs are always easily satisfied here in Singapore

While staying up late or going to bed on a full stomach are usually frowned upon, there is no denying that the supper culture in Singapore is well and truly alive. And aside from just stuffing yourself with late night goodies, suppertime is also a recreational activity that involves getting together with your bffs to catch up over a hot meal. In our list, we considerately left out the predictable places such as Spize, Al-Azhar, Swee Choon and Chomp Chomp Food Centre, and included in other lesser-known eateries that you can rely on as your  go-to supper spot.

8. 85 Fengshan Market and Food Centre (Bedok 85)

Hidden away from the crowds that fill up Bedok MRT Station and Bedok Hawker Centre is the 85 Fengshan Market and Food Centre.Nonetheless, it is also no secret of how popular Bedok 85 can get with the late night crowd – from friends seeking an economical meeting place for food to your neighbourhood uncles gathering for late night beers, if you live around Simpang Bedok or Bedok North, this is the must go place if you are in need of some soup Bar Chor Mee.

Unarguably Xing Ji Rou Cuo Mian (#01-07) (above) and Seng Hiang Bak Chor Mee (#01-08), are the only stores why most people head to Bedok 85. We leave you to be the judge as both stalls dish out Bar Chor Mees consisting of springy yellow noodles, luscious broth and chewy meatballs that are equally comparable. Prices for these noodles start at $3 for Xing Ji and $2..50 for Seng Hiang.

For those looking to spice up their supper can head to Chan BBQ (#01-24) for some flaming good seafood. Before you plunge into the Sambal Stingray (from $10), make sure to give it a good whiff in the strong fragrance of dried prawns and the sambal sauce – a mix of chilli, shrimp paste, fish sauce, shallot, scallion, sugar, lime juice and vinegar. Choose to have your stingray with a bowl of rice so as to reduce the numbness on the tongue as you get transported into a gastronomical sanctuary.

Other notable mentions at Bedok 85 include Ah Balling Peanut Soup (01-25) for their generously filled peanut dumplings (from $1.60) and Bedok North 85 Fried Oyster (01-09/10) for their oyster omelette (from $3).
