Mother’s Day is rolling around and it’s time to help your mom feel like the beautiful woman she is. Here are some fashion suggestions
By Cheryl Chia
There are many types of mothers and not all the typical Mother’s Day offerings out there suit your mom. We’ve compiled a list of fashion items you can consider getting for your mother, for her to doll up before you take her to dinner.
For the mom who likes bling
Treat your mother to a sparkling bauble this Mother’s Day with these collections from Citigems and Goldheart, with diamonds and semi-precious stones set in white gold and silver. Bring a smile to your mother’s face with these accessories. Goldheart even has a range of jade jewellery ($198-$488) in modern designs should your mother prefer traditional pieces with a touch of class.
For the mom on the go
Walking around all day, running errands from picking up the kiddies to going to the supermarket, your mother needs comfy footwear to go about her business. Ecco has launched their Summer/Spring 2013 collection featuring pastel shades in ballet flats, court shoes and casual wedges.
The Ecco Mind, a weekend lace-up shoe made out of the softest camel leather, comes with two pairs of laces, one in cream and another in a bright shade. The shoe comes in the colours of black, fuchsia, ‘medieval’ and shadow white, and in sizes ranging from 36 to 41.
For the working mom
Not all mothers have the luxury of staying at home for extended periods of time. For the mom who powers up the boardroom, or has to attend a cocktail party before coming home, these beautifully powerful yet feminine getups from Shanghai Tang ($620- $2165), such as the Silk Sleeveless Dress or the Pleated Lace Qipao, are our hot favourites to enhance her figure.
For the mom who likes the finer things
If your mother is somewhat of a socialite, or simply likes to see and be seen, take her to Pois or the newly-opened Adolfo Dominguez boutique for a spot of evening wear shopping. She will enjoy both the company and the options. Creative Director of Adolfo Dominguez, Tiziana Dominguez, injects her artistic aesthetic as a painter and sculptor to design the prints and accessories, resulting in unique patterns on luxurious fabrics such as shiny satin with a lace overlay. Dresses range from $429 to $1,189. Both of these stores are located at Paragon.
For the mom who treats herself well
Kids, you don’t have to get your mom lingerie. Mothers, this one is for you. Feeling good on the inside makes you more confident on the outside. Say oui, to the newly-opened French lingerie brand Etam, with sweet yet sexy prints and designs. Or, for comfortable and nude body wear that moulds to your curves, try the new Triumph Body Makeup range that comes in soft shades and natural tones.
