A Stop-Motion POKÉMON Series Is Coming To Netflix

In celebration of Pokémon Day, Netflix will be collaborating with The Pokémon Company for an ambitious stop-motion project produced by critically acclaimed dwarf studios.

The same studio has previously worked on domo-kun, Komaneko, and Netflix’s Rilakkuma and Kaoru.

During a brief presentation about the series, Minyoung Kim, Netflix’s vice president of content for the Asia-Pacific region, described the show as featuring a wholly new story meant to “expand the Pokémon universe.” “The series, which will be set at the Pokémon Resort, follows the story of concierge Haru and the many Pokémon who visit as guests,” Kim said.

Netflix already has a number of Pokémon movies and shows in its content library including Indigo League, Journeys: The Series and Mewtwo Strikes Back.

There is not much information shared about the cast, format or release date. The production is “coming soon,” Netflix says.

However, we can expect a different style and storyline than the usual tales of Ash and Pikachu.
