Other than indulging in mooncakes and admiring lanterns, what else can we do to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with the whole family?
Here are some ideas for you.
2. Wan Qing Mid-Autumn Festival 2019
For 2 days only, the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall’s annual cultural event Wan Qing Mid-Autumn Festival 2019 returns from 7 to 8 September 2019!
Look forward to an exciting weekend of offerings, including heritage trails around the Balestier precinct, guided tours of the museum’s galleries, mooncake tasting, lantern-making workshops, storytelling of Mid-Autumn tales, alfresco concert performances, and more.
This year, the Memorial Hall has worked with local artist and sculptor Lee Yun Qin, and youth volunteers, to present “Moonflowers of Mid-Autumn” – an outdoor art installation that pays homage to this ancient Mid-Autumn folklore and symbolises the desire for union during this festive season.
250 stalks of glow-in-the-dark flower sculptures crafted from intricate wire mesh and solar-powered LED bulbs can be seen. With that, it transforms the Memorial Hall’s lawn into an enchanting mid-autumn flower garden in celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival. The installation is already up and running, do take a look if you happen to be around the area before 22nd September 2019.
