Singapore Cocktail Festival 2019: In High Spirits

Raise your glasses, because Singapore Cocktail Festival is back once again! Here’s what you can expect from the week-long celebration of the best in cocktail culture.

Prep your liver because Singapore Cocktail Festival (SGCF) is here, and it’s a whole week full of high spirited fun from 10-18 May 2019! In its fifth year, SGCF returns bigger than before, and brings the best of cocktail culture from all over the globe to our sunny shores, together with 45 participating cocktail bars across the city.

This weekend (10-12 May), head down to Empress Lawn where there’ll be a Festival Village set up for an absolutely lit cocktail party! Expect nothing but the best tipples from top mixologists from the likes of Kazuhisa Arai (Sober Company, Shanghai – No.16 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2019), Maroš Dzurus (Himkok, Oslo – No.19 in World’s 50 Best Bars 2018) and Jesse Vida (Atlas, Singapore – No. 5 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2019). The best part? They’ll be serving up their signature cocktails priced at an affordable S$12 nett!

Ever wanted to learn how to shake up your own drinks? Well, now you can – and from the best too! For the first time at SGCF, The World’s 50 Best Bars organisation will be presenting an exclusive ’50 Minutes with 50 Best’ Masterclasses series. Here, you can learn from the masters – including Maxim Schulte from American Bar at The Savoy, London (No.2 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2018); Antonio Lai from Quinary, Hong Kong (No.15 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2018); and Renato Giovannoni and Aline Vargas from Floreria Atlántico, Argentina (No. 14 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2018) – the best cocktail-making tips. Slots are limited, so do sign up quickly!

There will also be a wide range of pop-up bars for you to sip and savour from – so don’t get too excited early on in the evening! From Brass Lion Distillery, La Maison du Whisky, and Hopscotch, to Havana Club, Haku Vodka and Mr Black Liquers; you’ll definitely find yourself spoiled for choice.

Busy over the weekend? Big crowds not your thing? No worries – this year’s SGCF will also see a series of cocktail events around the city: indulge your love of gins and whiskies with Thematic Bar Tours, or download the Sluggr app for the SGCF Cocktail Passport! Said passport will allow you to redeem exclusive deals in participating bars across Singapore: think bar crawls, discounted cocktails, and exciting guest shifts!

Look out for Taste the Unknown with Hope & Sesame x Smoke & Mirrors on 14 May; where bartenders Bastien Ciocca and Andrew Ho of Hope & Sesame will have a showdown with Smoke & Mirrors‘ Head Bartender Jorge Conde! Look forward to 8 creative concoctions (S$18++), in 4 exciting rounds of facing off! There will also be complimentary tattoos from Galaxy Tattoo 2 who will be working on-site.
