Three SAVOUR events to satisfy every foodie!

You can’t quite call yourself a Singaporean until you’ve attended one or more of the country’s many food festivals. In light of the burgeoning culinary scene here, gourmet festival SAVOUR will present an expanded series this year to satiate foodies.

What this entails is an exciting line-up of three exciting culinary events at its new waterfront home at Marina Bay.

We’ve rounded up some of the activities and events you can look forward to:

Gourmet Village 2

1. SAVOUR Gourmet

The festival kicks off with SAVOUR Gourmet, held from May 12-15. Highlights include an al fresco gourmet village featuring a line-up of top local restaurants, guest overseas restaurants, feature bars and music stage, as well as a Gourmet Market by Jasons.

For the first time ever, entry is complimentary. To make things easier for festival go-ers, dish prices will be reduced to $6 or $12, with both cash and credit accepted on the grounds.

2. Instagram-worthy food mash-ups

Creativity abounds at SAVOUR Gourmet as chefs take their wild ideas to the table. We’re eyeing the Foie-ffle ($12) by Chef Bjorn Shen and his protege Jonathan Lee —  a crispy corn waffle topped with foie gras butter, orange blossom and drizzled with golden syrup.

Fans of Chef Han Liguang’s modsin (Modern Singapore) creations will be delighted with the Siew Yoke Umami Rice ($12), an out-of-this-world combination of tender roasted pork served on risotto that is cooked in ramen broth, and topped with sous-vide quail egg.

Gourmet Market

3. Specialty produce galore

Complete your SAVOUR Gourmet experience with a visit to the Jasons Gourmet Market, which will feature the best of Alaskan seafood and over 20 types of oysters from around the globe. Visitors can also indulge in items like Iberico pork, Miyazaki wagyu and other fine cuts.

Other highlights include their famous cheese room, where more than 200 cheeses can be sampled. To end your visit on a sweet note, be sure to enjoy a scoop or two of the Hokkaido lavendar-flavoured ice cream.

Wine lovers haven’t been forgotten in the midst of the gourmet frenzy. Come Sept 8-11, SAVOUR Wines will feature 400 varieties of wines at the SAVOUR Global Wine Market.

Visitors can look forward to a stellar line-up of award-winning restaurants, bars and music stage at the Gourmet Village, with wine tasting tickets going for as low as $12 for 10 tastings. Time to mark your calendars!

5. SAVOUR Christmas

The yuletide season may be several months away, but we’re already all stoked about SAVOUR Christmas. To be held Nov 17-20, the festive edition will feature award-winning overseas and local restaurants as they whip up delectable Christmas dishes.

In addition, visitors will be able to shop for gifts at the SAVOUR Christmas Market.
