Momiji Shabu Shabu launches new à la carte menu
By Nicole-Marie Ng
Buffets might have been all the rage when we were younger, but if you’re not up to being a bottomless pit, we’ve got the perfect solution for you.
Momiji’s brand-new à la carte menu has servings that are just right. Either pick and choose from the menu or order the fixed set that includes your choice of soup, vegetables and meat.
Four new collagen soup bases
In line with the launch, the Japanese-themed restaurant also introduced four new kinds of soup, each prepared with collagen pudding.
For diners looking to eat clean, try the Healthy Veggie ($12.80) soup. The natural sweetness of vegetables gives the soup a subtle flavour that pairs well with any ingredient you choose to add to your hotpot.
The Low-Calorie Pork (S$15.80) is another one for health conscious diners to try. Despite being less fatty than traditional pork bone soup, the soup base is still robust thanks to hours of simmering.
The Premium Beef (S$18.80) soup and Lamb Stew Tonic (S$18.80) are already full of flavour upon being served. You won’t need to add much to the soup before you’re able to enjoy a nourishing a bowl of collagen soup.
Can’t decide which of the four kinds of soup to order? Have the Duo-Pot (S$25.80), which allows you to choose any two soup flavours. This includes their older soup varieties like Spicy Mala and Tom Yum too!
More than a buffet restaurant
Aside from the new soups, the à la carte menu also features premium ingredients and tasty side dishes.
Some of my favourites include the beautifully marbled Wagyu Beef ($16) and Fish and Pork Paste ($6). Unlike other places that add too much flour to their paste, Momiji’s version is not too doughy, allowing the flavours of the meat to come through.
The next time you feel like having an affordable steamboat meal sans the gluttony of a buffet, head down to Momiji. The wide variety of dishes on the new menu ensures that there will be something for everyone.
