Say “hey” to HEYTEA

Our bubble tea craze doesn’t seem to be dying down for a long while, especially not if big global brands like HEYTEA start setting up shop in Singapore!
Taiwan is usually recognised as the origin of the addictively sweet drinks, but did you know that the frothy variation of cheese teas first came from China? It was HEYTEA喜茶, China’s most iconic tea brand, that had the wacky idea to add a layer of cheese on top of their teas, and thus invented cheese teas.
If you find the name and logo familiar, you might be thinking of HeeTea, another Chinese brand that seems to have copied the look of HEYTEA, but recently (and smartly, we may add) redid their logo.
Now you can taste the original cheese teas at HEYTEA’s new outlet at ION Orchard. It’s the brand’s first-ever branch outside of China! The Singapore store has a variety of offerings – even just within the Cheezo Tea range, you can get smoky Oolong, Japanese seaweed and matcha, earthy green tea, the signature strawberry, the pulpy grape, and more flavours with the creamy cheese layer.
The Fruits Burst teas are totally Insta-ready, especially the vibrant grapefruit and orange ones. To truly satisfy your sweet tooth, desserts will also be available to accompany the teas.
The health-conscious can rejoice, because HEYTEA uses natural, low-calorie rock sugar and high-quality raw ingredients in their teas. The cheese you taste is made from imported New Zealand Anchor cheese.
“Cult favourite” is quite an understatement to describe HEYTEA. At their over 100 branches across China, people queue for up to six or seven hours for a cup of their teas. Check out this long snaking queue outside their Chengdu store:
Well, long queues have not scared away Singaporeans. With an exclusive item also set to be launched in our Singapore store, it’s possible we might just see even longer queues here.
