Wine, cheese, pork and seafood - what’s there not to love?

But of course, we obliged ourselves to the fabulous gastronomic scene during our trip in Galacia, Spain. With this part of Spain located right next to Atlantic ocean, Galicia abounds with seafood treasures such as octopus, fish and other shellfish jewels. Poultry is another highlight from this northern part of Spain, pork and beef in particular, of which the livestock is all reared in the country. Since the source is right here at home, Galicia's cuisine, aside from being wholesome and diverse, is more affordable as compared to the big cities of Madrid and Barcelona. Here are five restaurants that best exemplify the very best of Galician dining.

4. A Horta do Obradoiro

Geographically, A Horta do Obrodoiro is a direct competitor of Casa Marcelo. The restaurants, both of which are located on the same cobbled street of Rúa das Hortas, are directly opposite each other. And it is not just the same area code these two restaurants have in common, in fact, similar to Csa Marcelo, A Horta do Obrodoiro has given creative spins to Galicia’s finest produce. Sure, you’ll find the usual steak and Atlantic seafood treasures here, one in particular is a lightly pan-fried hake served squid ink broth, but there are also other comforting delights such as the chestnut bread that is stuffed with pork and cheese. Food aside, the restaurant comes with a bit of history. We are told the building is actually an eighteenth century home that hosted the musicians that played in the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral. Plus, the restaurant has a charming backyard garden for patrons to adjourn for coffee after their meals.
