According to the Ministry of Manpower, 2017 will bring us seven long weekends - where a public holiday (PH) falls on a Friday or Monday. However, by taking just six days of leave, you can enjoy three more long weekends, stretching your total vacation time to a whopping 36 days.

We show you how to do just that, and where you should consider travelling to during each period.

Hari Raya Haji: 1 Sep, Fri

Take leave on:

September usually marks the time for Singapore’s Formula One season, when roads are closing and companies are revving up for the approaching star-studded affair. The Singapore Grand Prix 2017 will take place from 15-17 Sep, so if you’re a fan of names like Nico Rosberg, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, don’t budge because there’s a high chance they’ll be zooming into town to meet their fans before the race.

However, if you’re more into the races, this period would be a good time to hit up the racetrack in Monza, Italy. To be held there from 1-3 Sep, the Italian Grand Prix is one of the first Formula One championship races in 1950, and it has been held every year since then.

It’s the most exciting one to attend for die-hard fans, as the old banking – which was last used in 1961 – is still clearly visible, as are some of the old stands.
