5. Dark tourism
Warning: This is not for the faint of heart. Amid rumours that gulags, or hard labour camps, could now be preserved and turned into “tourist camps” by a regional tourist department in East Siberia, a US$110 million war-themed ski resort featuring barbed wire and burnt tanks is reportedly being built by Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker, Nikita Mikhalkov.
