The Setagaya Boroichi — boroichi means “rag market” — is more of a traditional winter and New Year fair that has been held for more than 400 years. Since the 1570s, this market has historically been a place where farming goods and rags were sold.

Now, it is known for hawking farm tools, beautiful antiques, used clothes, toys and food. In particular, Daikan-mochi rice cakes are this event’s signature.
