7. For the Foodie: Iloilo, Philippines
Get to know Filipino culture through its amazing food! Known as the City of Love, Iloilo is a colourful city where you can find majestic century-old churches and many cultural festivals. But one thing that both locals and visitors sing praises about is the delicious variety of food at unbelievable value. Fans of seafood will love the fresh and affordable baked oysters (known as talaba) and garlic buttered shrimp. A signature dish you must try is Batchoy, a noodle soup made with pork and pig intestines found in the bustling La Paz Public Market. You can also enjoy Iloilo’s historic sights and street food at the same time: A walk along the old business district of Calle Real will reward you with beautiful architecture and Roberto’s siopao, the legendary stuffed steamed bun.
