The holiday season is here. Bring your compact digital camera to capture these moments. Guinevere Sofer explains why
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, again! Time to enjoy the festive lights around the world, and even at home.
This holiday and travel season, be sure to bring along your Compact Digital Camera to capture high quality images of all the wonderful sights and lights.
Here are few tips to help you to get the most out of your holiday season and the photos of it.
Compact Digital Cameras for Convenience & Quality
At least bring a Compact Digital Camera with you. Compact Digital Cameras are as convenient and “pocketable” as a mobile phone, but have a greater range of functions.
Plus, you’ll get much better quality photos in low-light situations (whether in dusk, indoors, night scenes, etc.) as compared to a phone cam. The larger sensor and lens allow them to capture more light in low-light situations.
Compact Digital Cameras are designed to easily focus in dark areas. Most importantly, the colour tones come out smoother and less “noisy” which, otherwise, could make the image look grainier and dirtier.
Programmed for Great Photos
With a Compact Digital Camera, it’s as easy as a phone cam. Simply set it to the program mode. The camera will do everything by itself.
Don’t be afraid to take multiple shots of each scene to choose from later.
Steady Your Camera
When most people go on vacation, they will bring their Compact Digital Camera with them. It’s sensible since most places will have dazzling festive lights at night.
To catch a variety of night photos, bring a small tripod.
For Compact Digital Cameras, an inexpensive (less than $100), light and compact tripod will suffice. The tripod will keep the camera steady for shots which require more time (long exposures).
As an alternative to a tripod, you can always set the camera on self-timer, and then place it on a table, ledge, stool, or anything stable to take a picture. Then, place a variety of smaller items below the camera to adjust the height and angle – such as brochures, napkins, etc.
With or without a tripod, be sure to bring your Compact Digital Camera to best capture the festive sparkle.
