The gutsy actress and travel host is always up for an adventure.
Fresh from completing the Annapurna Base Camp trek, Carla Dunareanu talks about her favourite tech gadgets and biggest adventures.
Hi Carla, congrats on conquering the Annapurna Base Camp trek! how was it?
Thank you! It was amazing and life changing. I’m honestly so grateful for it. The fact that it was for work was the icing on the cake!
When you’re trekking an average of eight hours a day over eight days, it really is an uphill battle. My greatest takeaway? I can do more than what I give myself credit for. Believe in yourself!
Game face on: Carla gets ready for a run along the Brooklyn Bridge, New York.
We hear you scuba dive and rock climb. what are some must-have gadgets on your adventures?
Yes, I love the outdoors! I use my GoPro so often because it’s hardy, small enough to fit into any bag and I love taking underwater pictures.
Music helps to distract on long seven-hour walks, so portable speakers are a must-have. My phone is always with me because I love sharing real-time updates.
What’s one thing you wished was invented?
A teleportation device. It sounds far-fetched but can you imagine going to Germany for breakfast, coming back to Singapore for work, then hopping to Thailand for lunch and then watching the sunset in LA?

Your most unforgettable travel experience…
It’s hard to pick, but I’d say it was visiting the world’s largest cave, Hang Son Doong, in Vietnam.
Very few people are accepted for the expedition so it was exhilarating to embark on the trek! Being inside the cave is incredibly humbling and I was constantly in awe of my surroundings.
What’s one social media faux pas you can’t stand?
I don’t think people should post things for the sole purpose of getting attention or sympathy.
Where and when can we next see you in the media?
You can watch #MissAdventures or my daily sports show called SuperSports 360 at 8pm on SuperSports Arena.
Or, if you’re a fan of drama, I’m involved in a brand new sitcom called Rojak which premieres in April on Channel 5.
Catch Carla Dunareanu on #MissAdventures every Wednesday night at 10.30pm on Okto and follow her on Instagram at @itsmecarlad
