Apple Unveils iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR: Here’s What You Need To Know

Get ready for the biggest and fastest iPhone yet

Less than a year after the iPhone 8 and X were released, Apple introduced not one, not two, but three new iPhones at yesterday’s big keynote event. They are the iPhone XS (pronounced “ten-S,” not like “excess”), the iPhone XS Max, and the iPhone XR.

Building on the iPhone X’s all-screen display and Face ID recognition system, the new phone models take those radical features to a whole new level. We’re talking a much larger display, with the iPhone XS Max boasting a grand 6.5 inches – yet speed isn’t compromised. Thanks to the 7-nanometer A12 Bionic chip installed in all three models, we’re getting the fastest and most durable iPhones yet.

At the keynote, Apple also introduced the Apple Watch Series 4, but we’re zeroing in on the iPhones today. So what features do the phones have, and how do they compare with one another? And when can we get our hands on them? Here are the essential things you need to know about the newest line-up of iPhones.

4. iPhone XS and XS Max

Here’s what we’re most excited about for the two XS models:

Large, stunning displays: The iPhone XS features a 5.8-inch display, while the XS Max is even bigger with a 6.5-inch display. Both have a beautiful Super Retina and custom OLED design that support High-Definition resolutions and brilliant colour accuracy.

Improved scratch-, splash-, and water-resistance: Both models have a stainless steel band, and glass front and back, making the phones much more durable than previous models.

Dual 12-megapixel camera system on the back: You get more stabilised and high-definition images with twice the optical zoom capabilities, and a sensor twice as fast. With advanced depth to your photos in Portrait mode, you can create even more beautiful shots with a professional touch, like a soft background blur, also known as the “bokeh” effect. Your selfies also get an upgrade with the 7-megapixel TrueDepth front camera.

Dual SIM-card support: You can store one physical nano-SIM card as well as one digital e-SIM card in your iPhone XS or XS Max!
