Review: Etude House Lashperm Curlfix Mascara

If you need a mascara that’s water-, sweat- and sebum-proof to last through your daily adventures, consider the Etude House Lashperm Curlfix Mascara ($24.90).

They certainly weren’t kidding when they said that the mascara’s formula, featuring the lauded Etude Curl 24Hr Technology, could last up to 24 hours.

By the end of the day, my lashes were still curly and not a single smudge could be seen.

In fact, I had a rather trying time removing the product with my makeup remover.

It was easy to be precise while applying the mascara because of the product’s short and defined bristles. However, by the third coat of mascara, my lashes started to look clumpy.

Our verdict: While this mascara is long-lasting, it isn’t suitable for beginners as some skill is required in manoeuvring the mascara brush to coat your lashes evenly.

Available in four colours: Black, brown, plum burgundy and pink. Black is available at all Etude House stores while the other limited edition colours are available only at Etude House Wisma Atria.

Review: Clio Tinted Tattoo Kill Brow

To someone who had once spent a fortune on brow embroidery, the promise of an affordable brow tinting product does sound like an attractive deal.

Which was why I was excited to try the Clio Tinted Tattoo Kill Brow ($23.90), which claimed to give the brow area a natural stain that will last for three to seven days.

The two-in-one brow tool came equipped with a brow tattoo pen on one end and a brow mascara on the other.

Outlining my brows with the tattoo pen was easy enough — it took only six strokes for each brow to take on a natural shade of brown and I could easily clean off any mistakes with tissue paper.

I went to sleep, satisfied with how full and neat my brows looked. Eight hours later, the product had already tanned the outermost layer of my skin with a temporary colour that was resistant to soap and water.

For the next two days, my brows looked naturally defined, without the help of any additional brow products. For thicker-looking Korean-style brows, use the product’s brow mascara end to create volume from the inner corners of your brow to the tails.

By the third day, my coloured brows had begun to fade gradually, in line with my skin’s natural exfoliation process.

Would I use it again? Highly likely, as this product is fuss-free and really does work.

Available in various shades of brown at selected Watsons stores.

Nivea Extra White Make Up Starter Moisturising Serums

Available in two variants for day and night use, these ultra-light serums ($15.90 each) aim to moisturise, whiten, act as a base, and protect skin from the chemicals found in make-up.

I liked the night use serum in particular as it acted as an overnight mask that left my skin feeling hydrated in the morning.

Available at all personal care stores, supermarkets and hypermarts.
