When you’re trying out yoga for the first time, there’s plenty to consider. The last thing you want is to be in a class so packed, you find yourself elbowing a fellow student, or worse, looking around in bewilderment as everyone transits seamlessly from crow to headstand.

To help you ease into your practice, here are four beginner-friendly boutique yoga studios we love. They offer small class sizes, cosy environments and most importantly, patient teachers so that you can concentrate on reaping the health benefits of yoga.

YogaTime: Making Time For Devoted Practice

Heading to YogaTime often reminds me that if I make time for yoga, its benefits will make time for me.

The studio’s focus on self-development and devotion to practice is evident in the small class sizes where personal attention is given to learning, instruction and addressing a student’s specific needs.

Can’t figure out how to perform a headstand? Fret not. The patient teachers are truly detailed in their guidance and their yoga classes are offered in a plethora of traditional and contemporary forms.

On the traditional end, you’ll find classes like Ashtanga-led, Mysore, Traditional Hatha and Kundalini Yoga classes. Contemporary classes include Hatha, Yin Yoga, Yin Yang Yoga, Yoga Stretch and Meditation.

New students can purchase the $80 trial pass to join any standard class during a 14-day period to help them decide which classes are best for them.

On being a beginner:
“We feel that it’s very important that beginners take basic classes when starting their yoga journey. As with any physical activity, yoga can cause injury if not executed correctly, so it’s critical that new students get a proper foundation on techniques and a true understanding of their own capabilities as a practitioner.” –Tania Choh, Founder & Teacher at YogaTime
