CICC Participates in the 11th Belt and Road Summit in Hong Kong
HONG KONG, Sept. 11, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 11th Belt and Road Summit, co-hosted by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), was officially opened on 9 September. As an official partner of the summit, CICC (China International Capital Corporation Limited) once again took part in the event. Wang Shuguang, President of CICC, was invited to attend the summit and deliver opening remarks at a thematic session.
Under the theme "Advancing High-quality Development • Embarking on a New Journey", this year’s summit brought together government officials, business leaders, finance and investment experts, technology enterprise representatives and economists from countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. Attendees reviewed the substantial progress delivered under the Initiative, exchanged insights on practical multilateral cooperation, and mapped out a vision for mutually beneficial development. John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the HKSAR, and Frederick Ma Si-hang, Chairman of the HKTDC, attended the opening ceremony and delivered addresses.
At the thematic session entitled "High-Quality Belt and Road Cooperation: Connecting Markets, Creating Opportunities", Wang Shuguang stated in his opening remarks that with its unique edge of "backed by the motherland and connected to the world", Hong Kong stands as a pivotal platform for high-quality Belt and Road development. As a hub linking the Chinese mainland to global capital markets, Hong Kong continues to fulfill its unparalleled role as a "super connector", bridging the mainland’s industrial strengths with global capital resources. This distinctive positioning was strongly validated in the capital markets: in 2025, Hong Kong’s IPO market reclaimed the No. 1 spot globally for fundraising after a six-year hiatus, raising over HK$ 286.9 billion — a strong testament to the solid fundamentals and vibrant dynamism of Hong Kong as an international financial hub.
He noted that over the past two years, CICC has sponsored the Hong Kong listings of leading hard technology enterprises including CATL and Zhongji Innolight, attracting participation from major long-term investors such as sovereign wealth funds across the Middle East and Europe. This fully underscores the appeal of China’s high-quality enterprises and global market confidence in China’s high-quality economic development. Meanwhile, CICC has continued to deepen its presence in Belt and Road cross-border financial services, having acted as lead underwriter for its inaugural Panda Bond issuances in multiple markets including Pakistan and Kazakhstan. The Jiaxin International Resources Investment Limited listing, sponsored by CICC in 2025, marked the world’s first simultaneous dual primary listing on both The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (HKEX) and the Astana International Exchange (AIX) of Kazakhstan, setting a new benchmark for cross-border financial cooperation under the Belt and Road development.
During the forum, China International Capital Corporation (CICC) signed memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Finance and related enterprises of Laos, as well as with the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan. The parties will deepen cooperation in areas such as cross-border investment and financing, financial product innovation, and the issuance of RMB-denominated bonds. This series of agreements marks an important step in the company’s expansion into Southeast Asian and Central Asian markets, and in its efforts to support the Belt and Road Initiative. Guided by its core mission of "Chinese Roots, International Reach", CICC is committed to delivering premium comprehensive financial services to high-quality enterprises, institutions and investors worldwide. Looking ahead, we will continue to leverage our professional expertise, work alongside global clients and partners to seize new opportunities in high-quality Belt and Road development, while contributing to cross-border capital flows, deeper regional economic cooperation, and stronger connectivity between the capital markets of the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong.
