4. Lion’s Home for the Elders, Bishan

The Lion’s Home for the Elders has been showering the elders our community with love since 1980, so it makes perfect sense that it should be decked out in images of our traditional communities. Community was what local artist Belinda Low had in mind when she spruced up the welfare home with a gorgeous two-storey high mural. We can totally see the Vincent van Gogh influences in her work! She gives us the iconic Dutch painter’s signature dreamy style with a Singapore flavour of old shophouses and streets. Look out for the little details like Chinese couplets and the peanuts carried on top of the kacang puteh seller’s head!
