3. Giant books at the entrance (Aix-en-Provence, France)

You’ll step into the Bibliotheque Mejanes with a giant love for books. The public library in Aix-en-Provence, France, is unmistakable from afar, an enormous “bookshelf” jutting out of the entrance! They feature three renowned French books: Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s Little Prince, the playwright Moliere’s Le Malade Imaginaire (The Imaginary Invalid), and Albert Camus’s L’Etranger (The Stranger).

The library’s interior is no less amazing! First opened in 1810, the library was later moved into the space of a former match factory in 1989. The space retains the open-space industrial look. And if you thought it couldn’t get any cooler, the Bibliotheque Mejanes is also super inclusive! It’s fully accessible for people with reduced mobility and visual impairment, making handy tools such as a tele-magnifying machine and reading machine readily available for them.
