5 Noteworthy Films To Catch At This Year’s Mexican Film Festival

Of film noir, comedy, love and the bleakness of life

Back in its third year running, the Mexican Film Festival will be held at The Projector from 1 to 4 Jun.

Taking a darker turn this year, the festival will feature thought-provoking films such as Bleak Street, which takes a comedic look at the lives of sex workers.

Curated by The Projector and presented in partnership with the The Embassy of Mexico in Singapore, the festival will present some of Mexico’s most refreshing cinematic voices.

4. Güeros

In Alonso Ruizpalacios’ debut feature, Güeros follows a troubled teen as he tries to find his place in life. The film borders on the comedic, nostalgic and whimsical while giving an insight into Mexico’s history in the 1990s.
