9. Sip on premium Japanese craft gin… in a cocktail
One of Japan’s most awarded spirits producers Beam Suntory recently launched their first premium Japanese craft gin — Roku. The word means ‘six’ in Japanese, and is named after the six traditional Japanese botanicals that go into making it , namely sakura flower, sakura leaf, yuzu peel, sencha tea, gyokuro tea and sansho pepper.
In Singapore, Suntory has tied up with Gibson’s head bartender Aki to create two special Roku cocktails that will be available from now until the end of the year. There’s the Miyabi, a beautiful Sakura cocktail evocative of the Japanese cherry blossoms, as well as the Matsuri, a refreshing watermelon cocktail perfect for the Singapore weather.
