If you’re a sentimental cultural buff, then you best be heading to the convivial party of Armenian Street on the weekend of 20 and 21 April before the heritage site sees to a major facelift. Dubbed Balik Kampong 2.0. – Same Same, But Different, the event is one of the official closing events for Singapore Heritage Festival 2018, and you can bet your last five stones that it is going out with a bang. The joyous departure will feature tunes from the 60s by The Pinholes, a section called Don’t Play Play devoted to old school games such as life-sized pick-up sticks and jenga, pasar malam stores hawking traditional snacks and local business selling souvenirs that pay homage to Singapore’s history. Armenian Street Party also coincides with Peranakan Museum’s 10th anniversary, where guests can find themselves immersed in several multi-sensory installations.
