Studio Ghibli Exhibition Is Coming to Singapore This December

Ever wished you could stand under an umbrella next to Totoro, wander through the magical world of Spirited Away or step inside the fantastical universe of Studio Ghibli? Your Ghibli dream is about to come true.

The Story of Studio Ghibli opens at Gardens by the Bay on 18 December 2026, bringing fans in Singapore a chance to step into some of the studio’s most beloved movie worlds.

Spanning almost 3,500 square metres, this will be the largest edition of The Story of Studio Ghibli staged anywhere in the world, with 12 large-scale immersive environments inspired by iconic Studio Ghibli films.

Step Into Your Favourite Ghibli Films

Ghibli fans can expect to see magical worlds from My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and the Oscar-winning The Boy and the Heron.

And yes, Totoro will be there!

One of the most exciting scenes is the famous rainy bus stop from My Neighbor Totoro. Fans will be able to stand alongside the giant forest spirit as they wait for the Catbus — basically a childhood Ghibli dream brought to life.

Fans of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind can also get up close to a life-sized Ohmu, while Spirited Away will have one of the exhibition’s biggest highlights: a spectacular three-dimensional recreation of the film’s iconic bathhouse.

Standing eight metres tall, the bathhouse is described by organisers as the first installation of its kind.

More Than Just a Photo Opportunity

Of course, there will be plenty of Instagram-worthy moments. But this exhibition is not simply about recreating famous movie scenes.

Interactive multimedia elements will be incorporated throughout the experience, allowing visitors to engage with the different worlds rather than just viewing them from the sidelines.

And that is what makes Studio Ghibli so special.

Since its founding in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and Toshio Suzuki, Studio Ghibli has created films that go far beyond beautiful animation and adorable characters.

Behind the magic are stories about growing up, finding courage, protecting nature, dealing with loss and discovering where we belong.

You might come for Totoro. You might stay for Spirited Away. And you may leave with a little more to think about than you expected.

A Must-Visit for Ghibli Fans

For longtime fans, The Story of Studio Ghibli is a chance to revisit the characters and scenes that have been part of their lives for years.

For younger fans discovering Ghibli for the first time, it could be an unforgettable introduction to the studio’s magical worlds.

The exhibition will be held at Gardens by the Bay’s West Lawn, so you can easily make a whole day of it around Marina Bay.
