Popularised by the movie Inception, the concept of the paradox is a common appearance in art – but do you know where it originated from?
In 1958, Dutch artist MC Escher (1898-1972) ‘invented’ the Impossible Cube, which became one of the first known Impossible Objects in art. Escher was also known to employ the use of irregular perspectives and mathematical visuals in his works, which inspired the “paradox” seen in Inception.

These original pieces, which have been adapted and printed by many contemporary artists, will soon come to the Singapore. They will be shown at the ArtScience Museum from 24 Sep.
