For years, Downtown East has been creating good memories of barbeques at chalets, fun rides at the defunctEscape theme park and big splashes at Wild Wild Wet. Today, there are even more reasons to visit the eastside lifestyle hub with your family and friends.
It’s been five years since Downtown East announced a major project that would transform it into a state-of-the-art holiday destination. The makeover was unveiled in phases: The launch of lush D’Resort in 2015, followed by the reopening of a bigger and more thrilling Wild Wild Wet last year.
Completing the revamp is Market Square, the shopping area that will see a more than 20% increase in the number of retail and dining options. With a range of local and international cuisines to feast on, the main shopping highlight of Downtown East has truly become a gathering for foodies where they can enjoy Korean rice cakes and army stew at popular restaurant Mukshidonna, and Western delights at homegrown café Ice Edge Café & Bar. Elsewhere, the 24-hour Indian Muslim restaurant Flaming Spice has your late-night spicy cravings covered. If you’re in the mood for some beer and games, have a go at the electronic dartboards at Forest4 Darts Café.
And that’s not all.
Segway comes to Downtown East with Jackie Chan-endorsed scooter-sharing program Gogreen, a new outdoor experience for the whole family. Explore Pasir Ris Park and the neighbourhood on the fun and safe mobility devices. We’re also excited for the new UNIQLO store arriving at the end of the year.
Been a long-time visitor of Downtown East? The completion of the revamp also coincides with its 30th anniversary that comes with a commemorative digital campaign. Downtown East is inviting you to share your fondest memories of the hub over the year. If you’re feeling really nostalgic, a Heritage Wall capturing its long history through images is also set up.
Keep your eyes and ears open, as there will be bazaars, carnivals and more lined up for the big celebration.
