Say goodbye to boring weekends with our guide!
To eat/drink
1. A 6-course meal by a Michelin-starred chef
From Jan 27-30, Zafferano’s Chef Marco will welcome Chef Theo Penati of il Ristorante Pierino Penati (1 Michellin Star) from Italy.
The culinary collaboration between the two will be a melding of Chef Marco’s authentic Italian fare and Chef Theo’s modern take on the cuisine. Diners can expect a 6-course dinner menu featuring innovative dishes like UOVO — slow cooked ‘perfect egg’, soft polenta, parmesan milk fondue.

2. Japonica rice
Want to recreate the adorable bento sets that have been taking the Internet by storm? Your best bet is Japonica rice: A short-grain variety of white rice that is moist and sticky, making it ideal for molding sushi.
A great option is Fragrance 43°N (43°香) japonica rice, now available at all NTUC FairPrice Xtra hypermarkets and Finest supermarkets island-wide. Cultivated in Jilin, Northeast China, the high-quality japonica rice is harvested, processed and packaged using Singapore’s food safety standards.

This Lunar New Year, enjoy these Delifrance goodies alongside your traditional festive snacks. The Sweet Reunion, a citrusy yuzu pear cake, is filled with chunks of pear embedded within a soft, moist cake.
Other goodies like Joyful Blessing — a set of colourful Chocolate and Orange Flavoured Chinese New Year-themed cupcakes, are likely to please your family and friends as well.

To see
1. International indie acts
The music event of the season, Laneway Festival Singapore, is finally here this weekend. This year’s line-up is a heady mix of left-field electronica, shambolic punk, intelligent pop and boundary-pushing hip-hop. Big acts that many have been looking forward to include CHVRCHES, Flume and Grime.
As if that wasn’t exciting enough, another stage has been added to the event, making room for eight more great acts. Find out who they are here.

2. Creations from a designer who has dressed Beyonce and Lady Gaga
The “Everest” exhibition, which showcases recent artworks by Ang Sookoon about the world’s greatest mountain, will also feature a collaboration with British designer Sorcha O’Raghallaigh. Her creations have been worn by Kate Moss, Beyonce, M.I.A and Lady Gaga.
Accompanying the installation are series of smaller sculptures of bronze and wax, videos, and drawings, which work together to create an experience that transports the visitor away from everyday life into the realm of the fantastic.
