8 Exciting New Spaces In Singapore To Say Hello To This Year

Start the new year on a happy note by looking forward to these new developments in town

2016 left us with tearful goodbyes to many local childhood spaces and estates, such as the Fish & Co Glasshouse, Rochor Centre and Dakota Crescent.

But it's a new year, a new day and a new life for these other places in Singapore, which are either getting a rejuvenated makeover or seeing entirely new facilities opening up.

We take a look at eight of such developments to get excited about.

3. The Heart at Marina One

Marina One is another mixed-use development, this time located in the Marina South area, which has been identified as a new area of growth by the URA. It is also slated to be completed this year.

Marina One stretches to a whopping 3.67 million square feet, including two residential towers, two office towers and a retail podium called The Heart. The shopping area alone covers more than 140,000 square feet and will offer a variety of shopping and lifestyle stores, upscale bars and bistros and Asian and Western dining.

Accompanying it are two adjacent parks, the Marina Station Square and the Central Linear Park. (Manhattan Central Park vibes, anyone?) The Heart is landscaped by the same architects behind the Gardens by the Bay, Gustafson Porter and ICN Design.

Marina One will also have a “Green Heart” at its centre, comprising sprawling greenery and 13m-high waterfalls.
