4. The “original” paper-wrapped chicken

During my University days, I often visited the quaint kampong-style Union Farm Eating House for its memorable and tender paper-wrapped chicken. This classic Chinese delicacy was reportedly first created in this very restaurant.

Also known as chee pow gai in Cantonese, paper-wrapped chicken features marinated meat that is wrapped in paper and then fried. You may get your hands oily in a feat to unveil this treat but the glistening prize awaiting within is well worth the effort.

Union Farm Eating House began in the 1960s and here you can feel like you’re dining in an actual kampong estate from the olden days. The restaurant is closed on Mondays, except for public holidays.
