Welcome iftar this Ramadan with a sumptuous spread at The Halia, amongst the beauty of the Singapore Botanic Gardens!
Halia, Malay for ginger, is rather aptly-named, seeing how it’s located within the lush Ginger Garden of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Boasting rustic wood furnishings, floor-to-ceiling glass windows, and an outdoor patio where you can feel a gentle breeze on your face as you dine, The Halia is a gorgeous retreat away from the bustle of city life.
This year, the restaurant is offering a lavish Ramadan Communal Feast Menu ($240++ per feast), for family and friends to gather together and welcome iftar among the gorgeous flora of the Botanic Gardens.
Available daily for dinner during the period of Ramadan, break fast with your family and friends – this sumptuous communal menu meant to be shared amongst four to six persons, and has a selection of 12 of the restaurant’s signature dishes.
The Goat’s Cheese Mousse with Truffle Honey & Cream Cheese, while a little strong-tasting, was wonderfully addictive due to the serving of toasted baguette that came with it. For something more refreshing on the palate, go for the Blue Fin Tuna Tartare with Thai Basil and Ponzu Jelly: light, fresh and whetting the appetite for the dishes to come!
The Spiced Wagyu Beef with Hummus, Pomegranate and Puffed Rice may seem like an odd combination, but we assure you – it definitely tastes amazing! The juicy tang of the pomegranate and spiced marinade cut through the creaminess of the hummus and richness of the wagyu, while the puffed rice added a delightful crunch.
For mains, there is The Halia’s crowd-favourite Paperbag Oven-baked Halibut Fillet. Cooked with a light and fragrant soy and ginger broth, and served with sesame Japanese rice drizzled with truffle aioli; it’s not hard to see why this is a popular dish!
The hearty Blackmore Wagyu Spare Ribs is another well-loved dish: tender, fall-apart ribs are covered a toothsome jerked spiced barbecue sauce and sprinkled with crunchy bits of puffed rice.
The Slow-cooked French Chicken Breast doesn’t lose out to the ribs either! Tender and juicy without being overly salty or oily, the chicken thigh was wonderfully flavourful, as was the quinoa porridge served with it.
Wash your meal down with a drink of The Halia’s refreshing Herbarium mocktail! Served in a communal sharing jug, this blend made with fresh rambutan and infused with star anise & cinnamon is full of nutritious goodness.
Don’t forget to save some space for dessert!
Chocoholics will love the aptly-named Die-Die Must Have Chocolate served with raspberry elements; every mouthful rich, chocolatey and oh-so-heavenly. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is no less divine! Served warm with dates, butterscotch sauce and sea salt; and vanilla ice-cream, every spoonful will have you wanting more!
If you would like to welcome iftar in the comfort of your own home, no worries! The Halia also offers a catered version of their Ramadan Communal Feast Menu via their catering arm, Halia Catering!
