The Waterfall at Shangri-la Hotel launches its premium Sunday brunch experience
If you have a special occasion coming up, or simply wish to just give your loved ones a treat, why not try The Waterfall’s new buffet brunch.
The Waterfall is a little quieter than the other buffet, The Line, which is also in Shangri-la Hotel. The quality of the food here also appears much better. The premium brunch buffet costs $118-$198 for an adult and $59 for a child.
Food Galore
The moment you enter The Waterfall, the pristine fresh seafood counter filled with Japanese and French oysters, cold shrimp, sashimi and lobsters meet you. To your right, lamb, beef and pork roasts sit under heat lamps with an array of condiments.
There is a dessert cabinet nearby, bread shelves, a hot kitchen and, all the way at the end, a large assortment of cheese and cold cuts with a mixologist bar.
We almost didn’t know where to start as we were completely overwhelmed.
Bite by Bite
Our favourite part of the buffet was definitely the seafood counter. The oysters were briny and fresh, the sashimi counter was plentiful and the lobster was nicely separated into tail and claw for easy consumption.
The little scrolls in a jar on the tables are actually “pass around” dishes which are part of the buffet, such as the Beer Batter Fish & Chips, Ham and Pineapple Frittata, Tomato and Cheese Tian and a Japanese Tuna Wrap.
The Tomato and Cheese Tian – a grilled vegetable and cheese dish – is probably the lightest of the lot. It suits you if your intention is not to fill up too much on carbohydrates.
Sweet End
The dessert counter contains the standard puddings and crème brulee but we suggest skipping over to the crepe and croffle counter instead. What is a “croffle”, you ask? A croissant-waffle, that’s what.
Think of a flaky and crispy waffle drenched in honey instead of the typical doughy and heavy waffles. It can be a bit on the small side, so do order more than one helping at a time.
Kick back and relax as the in-house singers serenade you as you feast for a thoroughly relaxing Sunday.
